My sister Savannah took me on a trip for a weekend in Raleigh. What else do a couple stylish sisters need than a shopping spree? There are two trendy streets that house all of the hottest shops. North Hills and Cameron Village are full of designer fashion, home goods, hostess gifts and adorable accessories. Of course my first stop was Lilly Pulitzer, but I have also added more of my top picks for prep-wear and presents. Follow along as I list all of my fave stores and fab finds.

Fall in Love with Lilly

If you are looking for me this season, you can find me in Exotic Garden! It’s sneak peek week and I am giving you all an exclusive look into the latest Lilly Pulitzer Resort Fall line.

I couldn’t wait to try on these gorgeous garments. The colorful punch of palm leaves drew me to Exotic Garden and Island Time.

Usually I dread fall, but with these chic pieces, this season is going from drab to fab! These prints transport you to the tropics with each and every wear!

Looking forward to the next shipment, I can’t wait to see more of what’s in store. I can’t completely spill the juice about tomorrow’s new releases, but what I can say is that something psychedelic is coming soon, so stay tuned!

After Party Aftermath

Lilly Pulitzer just hosted one of their hottest sales parties of the year. It was so exclusive you had to wait in a ‘virtual line’ to enter. This gave a whole new meaning to the term VIP.

Amongst all the craziness, i was able to score these two darling dresses! I had my eye on many more, but I was happy to come out with a few fab pieces. First is the Siena Dress featured in Summer Haze, perfect for a night out on the islands. Next is the Reecy Dress in I’m No Angel. You could say it was a match made in heaven, as Angel is my last name!

An added bonus was receiving a holiday bonus from my bosses. With this, I was able to snag some of the sassy accessories I have been eyeing. Featured above are two Tiki Palm wristlets, a Lilly scarf and two Boca bangles featured in some of my favorite prints, from oldies (First Impressions, Let’s Cha Cha, and Dripping in Jewels) to new goodies (Tropical Storm).

The night before, make sure you have an account and that it is updated so you don’t lose precious time at checkout.
The sale opens at 8 am and you will be placed in a virtual line so make sure you open the site a few minutes before hand.
Do not refresh the page or you will lose your coveted spot.
Just because something is in your cart, doesn’t mean it is reserved. So don’t be afraid to check out early and often to get what you really want, because they do have free shipping after all.

Family and Friendsgiving

This year I am thankful I was able to spend Thanksgiving with both friends and family, and have some seriously fabulous food.

The Palm Avenue ladies and I hosted our first ‘Friendsgiving’ and I must say, we were beyond proud of our holiday spread. This was also my first time tracking down a turkey, but after all the trouble, it certainly made a great centerpiece. Each girl brought their best traditional dish to the table, from hush puppy stuffing to momma’s mac and cheese.

Just when I thought we were all stuffed, there was still just a smidgen of space for dessert. Of course I had to make my famous Pilgrim Hat Cookies, a festive reincarnation of the with hat cookies featured in my previous posts.

The best part had to be spending the holiday with my fabulous family. My Gramie hosted the gathering at her house in my hometown of Rock Hill, and we all left with full hearts and full bellies!

Witch Hat Cookies

Looking for a spooky snack for your Halloween party? Well I’ve got the recipe for you! In my last blog, I featured these Witch Hat Cookies that were a holiday hit. My mom started making these for family and friends when I was a kid, and they have been a cookie classic ever since. With this easy recipe, you too can bring this tradition to your home.

What You Will Need:

1 Pack of Fudge Stripe Cookies

1 Small Bag of Hershey’s Kisses

1 Tube of Orange Icing

1 Decorative Tip for Icing

1 Non-stick Fry Pan

(Makes 24)

Directions:

Lay your cookies out on a tray, chocolate side up

Unwrap your hershey’s kisses

Have a small fry pan on the stove and set the temperature to low

When your materials are ready, place the bottom of the kiss on the pan for a few seconds while you push it around in a circle just until the chocolate starts to melt and become sticky

Next, place the kiss on the center of the chocolate side of the fudge stripe cookie

Finally, grab your icing tube with decorative tip attached, and draw a band around the kiss and top it off with a bow.

Feel free to get creative and add warlock buckles, spiderwebs or anything spooky.

Repeat this process with each cookie, serve and savor!
