Floating on Folly

As you may know, being a coastal girl in the Carolinas, I always have to be close to the ocean. So when I heard my cousins were about to be Folly bound, I knew I had to tag along for the trip.

We rented a beach house for the weekend, with just a short walk to the water. The best part was having our own personal pool full of my favorite floats.

While my family hit the beach for a fishing trip, I floated the day away and soaked up some sun. It was the perfect day to play beneath the palms.

When the sun started to fade, we made our way to Chico Feo for tacos. I love this laid back spot to sip and see with locals and listen to live music. We headed downtown to dance the night away, but I couldn’t wait to be back in my dream suite. It was hard to leave this poolside pad, but I am always looking forward to my next beach retreat!

Myrtle Beach Retreat

I couldn’t wait to swan dive into summer and hit the beach for a sweet retreat! I hopped in my best babe’s car and soon we were beach bound with our boys.

We spent our afternoon pulling out the floats, popping out the umbrellas and chilling in our chairs. We had so much fun soaking up the sun and sipping on freezies at the tiki.

For date night, plus Mike, we cruised down to Crab Catchers. We feasted on fresh seafood and sat by the water. The sunset on the dock was the perfect dinner backdrop.

We spent our last day floating in the pool with friends and relaxing before we hit the road. I was so sad to leave our new beach pad, but I had such a blast with my best buds. I can’t wait to see what the rest of summer has in store!

Marimekko X Target

This Spring season, the colorful fashion house Marimekko collaborated with the ever- affordable Target, to create the perfect combination of cheap yet chic lines.

“Simple and spirited, Marimekko infuses its authentic Nordic sensibility and iconic prints into a signature collection of fashion and home pieces. Splashed with color, pattern and purpose, Marimekko is a true hallmark of Finnish art and design that never goes out of style.”

I was originally drawn to their warm collection and was inspired to take it from table side to poolside for a picnic. These were a few of my favorite pieces that brought the fun, while I soaked up some sun. I have to say, this is the best thing that’s happened to Target since Lilly Pulitzer. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next, from haute fashions to home decor and more!

Fight off the blizzard blues with a hint of print, and most importantly don’t be afraid to accessorize. Don’t just layer your clothes, but your jewelry too. Golden baubles and bangles can add class and sass to any ensemble.

Palm Avenue Pumpkin Party

Ghouls Night

When it comes to party planning, I’m more so known as the partier than the planner. When my boss handed me the hostess hat, I have to say I was a little intimidated but with a little pinteresting and tips from my Lilly ladies, my party soon came to life! From frightening to festive, follow me through my Pumpkin Party prep.

After a massive rush to clean the clutter, I pulled down my best spooky décor and got to work. I also turned down the bright lights and turned up the mood lamps for a more eerie effect.

As I am still working on my cooking skills, I saved time and struggle by picking up a Zaxbys platter for the girls, a southern favorite for a low- key gathering. For dessert, I used my mom’s classic Witch Hat Cookie recipe, which is now a pinterest phenomenon! (Stay tuned for the easy recipe on my next post.)

Hangin With My Witches
As far as tools go, I recommend printing out a few easy templates (not a double flamingo like mine, it will take you a lot of work.. and wine!) and grab a few carving kits to share. If carving isn’t your thing, just add paint or glitter for more fab effects!

To keep the party festive and fun, I got my girlies to don cat ears, and gave them goblets for their wine to pass the time. To leave a sweet taste with your partygoers, pack them a great goody bags to go, filled with Halloween fun. Don’t hesitate to get inspired by my ideas and make them your own. Hopefully with a few of my tips, you too can become the hostess with the mostess.
