Angels in the Apple Orchard

As Fall came to a close, I hit the road for one more cruise through the country. My mother and I finally made our way to Windy Hill.

We have been going to this orchard since we were kids. As an adult, I couldn’t wait to stop in for some apple cider.

I loved listening to the live band playing wagon wheel, while we took a seat by the bonfire.

Around the corner, kids climbed on the wagon and rolled through the orchards. We walked through the paths and parked it at the picnic tables.

As the band picked up we grabbed another cider and snuggled up by the fire at sunset.

What better way to welcome winter than to cozy up on a country night? I can’t wait to come back!

Sunflower Fields Forever

Winter is on its way, but as you can see, I’m not ready for it’s arrival. For that reason, you can find me in the sunflower fields, spending these final days of fall chasing the sun.

As we made our way through the Carolina country roads, I came across a strip of sunflowers. I was elated to find these flowers, as most of the crops are too cold.

There was a storm brewing, but the sun paused to make an appearance. We stopped the car for an impromptu photoshoot on our way to the apple orchard.

We had so much fun playing the field with flowers in our hair. The bees were buzzing and the wind was blowing and the buds were in full bloom. What a beautiful roadside surprise to kiss summer goodbye.

Pony Tales

What a week it was celebrating Cinco de Derby. After all the festivities were over, we were off to explore the rest of Oxford Farms.

My parents and I stayed in a cute little cabin beneath the trees and set our sights visiting the on the harem of horses.

We wandered the fields of flowers as the farm dog followed. I was wowed by what they called the ‘Taj-Ma barn’ complete with shiny chandeliers.

The best part of visiting the pastures was the paint ponies! There were fields of fabulous fillies that I couldn’t wait to play with. I reminisced on my riding days and wished I could stay. What a memorable moment, and an even better ending to our daycation. I already can’t wait to come back!
