Valentine’s Date at the Pink Palace

Stepping into Lillyland was like a Palm Beach dream. We were driving down the chilly streets of King of Prussia, passing piles of snow, when we made a stop at the Pink Palace. It was everything I envisioned and more. Walking up each step I became more and more excited by what was behind those glam glass doors.

Inside was a vision of Worth Avenue, with walls painted a shade of lemonade, and lined with porches and palms made to resemble this elite street. As you may know, it all started with a juice stand… and while the champagne flowed, we all had a mimosa toast, what a great start to a great day!

I looked around and found my friends from other signature stores. It was so nice to see my favorite familiar faces. We started to get seated along the sea of pink and green chairs, as the CEO began to speak. We were surrounded by elegant ensembles as we watched the sneak peek of the fashions they were about to unveil for fall.

We then made our way into a small conference room with a wall full of never-before-seen fashions. We quickly breezed through lookbooks and made notes on our potential buy as we sipped our champs and chewed on pineapple cups of candy. Watching the fit model walk by truly brought each look to life. We were even able to sift through the racks and feel all of the fabulous fabrics. Once the presentation came to a close, we headed back into the lobby to make our final decisions.

Now girls, you know how exciting it is to buy Lilly for yourself, imagine what it is like to buy it for your store! Once our choices were made, we said our goodbyes, snapped some sweet pics, and hit the road. It was hard to leave, but I was happy to think about the next time I’ll head back to headquarters. Until then, homeward bound!

Christmas in the Keys

Every winter my family plans a tropical trip, to trade in snowflakes for sand and sunshine. This year we headed to Key West for Christmas. What a great escape! I couldn’t wait to drop my bags and pick up my margarita.

We stayed by the marina at The Marker, a resort style boutique hotel hidden beneath the palm trees. The pool was certainly a luxe place to lounge. For other ways to catch some rays, we took the trolley to the beach. We hit the sand courts for a quick volley then headed over to Mallory Square for the sunset celebration. By nightfall we hit the hot spots downtown on Duval for live music and liquor drinks. We sipped on Sloppy ‘Ritas and danced the night away.

The next day we walked the streets for sweets and shopping. We explored the Lilly store, and picked out the perfect pair of stardust hoops, and the exclusive St. Tropez tanning set. We also visited Alex & Ani for matching bracelets, and Fresh Produce for a sassy sun hat. My favorite stop was treasure hunting at the Mel Fisher Museum. I loved looking through the gorgeous gold and gems uncovered from the ocean floor.

We then made our way to the marina for sunset drinks on our friend’s fabulous yacht. We had a great time watching the waves while enjoying hors d’oeuvres on the deck. What a perfect ending to another day in paradise.

On our last afternoon, we took a tour of the town, from the Southernmost Point to the Mile O sign and more. We even made a stop at Ernest Hemingway’s home. Shortly after, we were off for the airport. I must say, it was hard to head out, but I was happy to leave with sun- kissed skin and a pocket full of postcards. That’s what I call a successful stay.

Seahorses

When I moved to the Outer Banks I always told myself I would make it out to Corolla to see the wild horses. Well finally it was my lucky day! I met a great guy who made made my horse hopes come true. He took me out on not only a tour, but my very own private wild horse tour…

We hopped up in the truck, cranked up the heat and cruised through the sand and the snow along the shore. Watching the waves out of the car window was certainly another check off my bucket list. And on top of that, the adventure had only just begun.

We cut across the beach and darted through the dunes. What a wild ride! Through peaks and valleys we kept a lookout for these mysterious mares. When we finally caught a glimpse, we made our way over. To my surprise, we saw not one or two, but a whole ‘harem’ of horses! We loved watching them play, and of course we had to sneak a few selfies. We even saw a stand off between two very sassy stallions. It was hard to head out, but the best surprise was set for last.

As we made our way atop the sandy mountains we parked at the perfect sunset overlooking the sound.  I have to say this is the warmest welcome I could ever ask for. What a wonderful way to top off the day.
