Champagne Kisses & Birthday Dreams

Now if you know me, you would know that my birthday is not just a day but the party can last all month long. I thought the best way to celebrate would be a birthday bar crawl through Duck… and we did just that!

We started off at our local spot, Sweet Ts Beer & Wine. Sweet T herself hosted a high end wine tasting that was completely ‘angel’ themed, after my last name of course. To top it off, each wine was paired with my favorite hors d’oeuvres from pigs in a blanket to Georgia peaches.

I was more than delighted to see a full house of my favorite folks who came to celebrate my big ‘2-6.’ A few bottles of bubbly later and we were off to Roadside Bar & Grill for more birthday debauchery.

Walking down Duck Road, I blushed seeing my name on the bar signs on the way to the backyard. I couldn’t wait to spend some time with my handsome date. We laughed and danced the night away as the band began to play. Just when I thought this night couldn’t be topped, I stood corrected when they unveiled my unicorn piñata full of jello shots!

Right when I thought the party was coming to an end, my parents paid me a special visit. They took me out for a sunset dinner at Aqua overlooking the sound. Later we made our way to Blue Point as the band surprised me with a serenade.

I mean, who could ask for a better birthday? 26 is a lot sweeter with friends and family by my side. My first birthday in the Outer Banks was one of the best… so cheers to many more years!

Special thanks to Sweet Ts Beer & Wine and Roadside Bar & Grill for hosting

Snowflakes on the Sound

With a new year comes new experiences… and I have to say, that a snow day on the beach has to be the best one yet! As the sun went down, so did the temperature. I struggled to sleep because I was so excited hearing the snowflakes slide down my window.

When I woke, the Outer Banks transformed from a tourist destination to a winter wonderland vacation. As I made my way through the workday, the sky began to fall. Being surrounded by windows at the shop, I had a 360 degree view of the baby blizzard. I couldn’t wait to sneak out for a snow angel.

The sun set on a white horizon, and rose on the frozen sound. This was certainly a sight to see for this southern gal. What a treat to have snow on the beach!

Yuletide Festival

This time of year I would usually be making my way to Rock Hill for Christmasville. Now that I live in Duck NC, I wanted to try out a local tradition, The Annual Yuletide Festival. Every year, the town gathers at the green for a fabulous holiday celebration.

First, families can make their way around the waterfront shops for the Great Elf Hunt, where you search the stores for a hidden elf and get your passport stamped for a prize. Next, locals make their way to the town square for holiday treats and sweets, from cookies to cocoa and more. Once the live band kicks off, Santa arrives in the Duck fire truck. The finale of the festival is the lighting of the town crab pot tree.

After all the merriment, we made our way down to the docks for a sunset walk. It was the perfect end to the perfect evening. I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store!

Moving From Peaches to Beaches

pb1

So as you all have been following along, you have seen my series of Savannah adventures. I have spent the last 6 years in this sweet city, from studying Fashion Marketing at SCAD to selling Lilly Pulitzer at Palm Avenue. I have had some of my best years here, but its time to start the next chapter and I am so happy to share it with you all. So long Savannah!

Now I am making my way up the coast to the beaches of the Outer Banks. More specifically, Duck, North Carolina. I couldn’t think of a better place to start fresh. I can’t believe I get to live where people vacation. Talk about resort 365!

So you might ask, why OBX? Well, I recently received a job offer to be the Assistant Manager at Life’s A Beach, a Lilly Pulitzer Signature Store at the Waterfront Shops. I am so excited to get started and run the store this fall. I also just found a new place right on the beach, just a bike ride from work. The best part is falling asleep to the waves outside my window. Now I think I could get used to this…

There is so much more to explore, and I can’t wait to get started. I would also love for y’all to let me know of any local hot spots to hit while I’m here.

I gotta say, it feels nice to be a Carolina girl again, but I will always be a Georgia peach at heart!
