Tiger Town Bound

This weekend Clemson played N.C. State at home. It was a perfect chance to catch up with family as they all came home as well. This was a big game for us, as my dad played basketball for the tigers and my sister played for the pack. Whichever team we rooted for, I knew it would be a win-win!

I rooted for the tigers and my sister backed the pack but nothing brings southern girls together like game day. Before kickoff we made our way to the famous football floats, a tiger tradition. Shortly after, we were off to meet the rest of the family by the field.

We scored great seats at the stadium, and as soon as it was time for kickoff, the sun came out. It was a great game but it came to no surprise that Clemson prevailed. With a win under our belts, we were off to celebrate at the tailgate. That night we hit the streets to paint the town orange. What better way to celebrate the day of football than with family and friends?

Kissing Summer Goodbye

As we are soaking up the last bit of sunshine, I wanted to send off the summer in style. This week I am throwing it back to my days of living beachside in the Outer Banks.

You could always find me sitting by the pool catching some rays and sipping on sunshine. What better way to be made in the shade than to lounge the day away?

I have to say, my favorite way to spend the day is in a bikini by the beach. I couldn’t wait to soak in the saltwater and slip into the sand. The Outer Banks is such a sweet beach retreat. I can’t wait to go back!

You can shop my swimwear at Marleylilly and find my watermelon hat at T.J. Maxx.

Be sure to book your next summer beach trip to the Outer Banks, SC.

Champagne Kisses & Birthday Dreams

Now if you know me, you would know that my birthday is not just a day but the party can last all month long. I thought the best way to celebrate would be a birthday bar crawl through Duck… and we did just that!

We started off at our local spot, Sweet Ts Beer & Wine. Sweet T herself hosted a high end wine tasting that was completely ‘angel’ themed, after my last name of course. To top it off, each wine was paired with my favorite hors d’oeuvres from pigs in a blanket to Georgia peaches.

I was more than delighted to see a full house of my favorite folks who came to celebrate my big ‘2-6.’ A few bottles of bubbly later and we were off to Roadside Bar & Grill for more birthday debauchery.

Walking down Duck Road, I blushed seeing my name on the bar signs on the way to the backyard. I couldn’t wait to spend some time with my handsome date. We laughed and danced the night away as the band began to play. Just when I thought this night couldn’t be topped, I stood corrected when they unveiled my unicorn piñata full of jello shots!

Right when I thought the party was coming to an end, my parents paid me a special visit. They took me out for a sunset dinner at Aqua overlooking the sound. Later we made our way to Blue Point as the band surprised me with a serenade.

I mean, who could ask for a better birthday? 26 is a lot sweeter with friends and family by my side. My first birthday in the Outer Banks was one of the best… so cheers to many more years!

Happy Fall Y’all

As we watch summer slip away in September, you can see the seasons start to change. Autumn makes its way to the beach as we bundle up beneath the dunes.

A sweet retreat here on the Outer Banks has to be Jockey’s Ridge State Park. I love to sneak away to these little hideaways for sightseeing and sunsets.

Day trips to the dunes forever bring fabulous views, from hang gliders overhead to wildlife in the waters. Adventure awaits you, whether you wander through the woods or slide down the sands. I can’t wait to see what else this season has in store…

Seahorses

When I moved to the Outer Banks I always told myself I would make it out to Corolla to see the wild horses. Well finally it was my lucky day! I met a great guy who made made my horse hopes come true. He took me out on not only a tour, but my very own private wild horse tour…

We hopped up in the truck, cranked up the heat and cruised through the sand and the snow along the shore. Watching the waves out of the car window was certainly another check off my bucket list. And on top of that, the adventure had only just begun.

We cut across the beach and darted through the dunes. What a wild ride! Through peaks and valleys we kept a lookout for these mysterious mares. When we finally caught a glimpse, we made our way over. To my surprise, we saw not one or two, but a whole ‘harem’ of horses! We loved watching them play, and of course we had to sneak a few selfies. We even saw a stand off between two very sassy stallions. It was hard to head out, but the best surprise was set for last.

As we made our way atop the sandy mountains we parked at the perfect sunset overlooking the sound.  I have to say this is the warmest welcome I could ever ask for. What a wonderful way to top off the day.
